FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – Holly Waxman collected fourth place in women's platform diving and
Cameron Daniell and
Anelise Hedges recorded personal bests in the pool as the University of Utah swimming and diving team competed on the final day of the Pac-12 Diving and Women's Swimming Championships on Saturday at the Weyerhaeuser King County Aquatic Center.
ON THE BOARDS
In what was a stellar week of diving for the Utes, the women's platform was the final act and
Holly Waxman, who had already collected a pair of medals, put together an excellent performance. Her score of 276.90 goes down as sixth-best in school history and is a more than 20-point improvement on her previous personal-best.
Waxman finished the event in fourth, meaning she was responsible for 80 points for the Utes over the three events in which she competed, the most ever by a Utah athlete at the swim and dive championships.
Kathryn Grant won the platform B-final by collecting 265.20 points.
Sydney Kowalski finished the event in 17th, while
Lizzy DeCecco placed 18th and
Lexi Mills 19th. Overall, the Utes posted the event's second-highest diving point total.
"We capped off one of the most successful Pac-12 meets we've ever had with an amazing platform event," said diving coach
Richard Marschner. "Kathryn had a bit of a rough preliminary round but she came back on fire in consols and that's exactly the type of performance she's going to need next week. Holly just continued her incredible run and nearly pulled off a stunning upset to end up in the podium again. Her performance moved us into 2nd place as a team in diving points scored. We aren't done yet and I'm looking forward what we can do at zones and hopefully NCAAs."

Summer Stanfield only narrowly missed out on topping her personal best, clocking in at 1:55.47 to place 13
th and

Anelise Hedges posted a personal best of 2:13.30 in the 200 breaststroke, which also moves her up to sixth in the school record book in that event.
"The final day of the meet is always an emotional one," said associate head coach
Michele Lowry. "We are so thankful for everything our seniors have done for this program. They continued to lead the way through their last races. Leaving Federal Way with a lot of great memories and a bit of a chip on our shoulder to be better than ever in 2024. Go Utes!"
