Gish scored twice and clubbed his second home run of the season
Utah will now set its sights on a five-game homestand, beginning Tuesday at 6 p.m. MT with a rivalry game vs. BYU at Smith's Ballpark.
Kiernan's performance extended his on-base streak to 27 straight games and it was his seventh straight contest with a hit. Cameron Gurney drove in a pair of runs in the sixth inning when he went the other way for a two-run single, while Kai Roberts grounded into a fielder's choice that scored a run earlier that inning.
Randon Hostert provided three strikeouts in his 2.2 innings of work in relief of starter Cam Day, who received the loss. Blake Whiting fanned a pair of Beavers in a two-inning appearance, then Garrison Sumner and Zac McCleve dealt an inning each on the back end of the contest.
Gish went yard during the second inning, taking an 0-1 pitch over the national champions banner in left field. It put the Utes on the board for the first time in the game but was all the club could answer with in the first two innings after Oregon State netted six runs in that time.
The Beavers added insurance runs in each of the middle innings, then closed out the scoring with a pair in the eighth to bring the game to its final score.
