SALT LAKE CITY – Utah volleyball head coach
Beth Launiere announced the addition of four new Utes to the 2025 squad on National Signing Day. Utah will be adding Kate Field, Dyborrah Johnson, McKenna Payne and Devyn Wiest.

Devyn Wiest | 6-3 | Outside Hitter | Peoria, Ariz. | Sandra Day O'Connor HS
"Devyn comes to Utah as a highly decorated player with multiple National and State Championships to her name and is solidly in the USA National Team Pipeline after playing for the U19 team in Honduras this past summer," said head coach
Beth Launiere. "She is a talented outside hitter that knows how to win, has good size and physicality and can play six rotations. Her serve is one of the best at the Junior level which will translate well to college. We couldn't be more excited to have Devyn become a Ute and pleased to have her joining us in January."

Under Armour All-American Outside Hitter… USA U19 National Team gold medal winner in Honduras… 2023 Desert Valley Regional Player of the Year… 2023 Arizona State Champion… All-Conference 6A Player of the Year… Tallied 189 kills averaging 4.6 kills per set, with 129 digs and 25 aces her senior season… Played club for AZ Storm Elite with fellow Utah signee Dyborrah Johnson… Won three club National Championships and one runner-up title… Twice named an All-American… Competed in beach volleyball, winning three state championships… Daughter of Brian and Deana Wiest… Received top honors all four years of high school, graduating in the top 10 percent of her class… Her older sister, Ali plays volleyball at Weber State.

McKenna Payne | 5-7 | Libero | Monroe, Mich. | St. Mary Catholic Central
"McKenna is a top Libero in the country who plays at a high level both in junior club and high school," said Launiere. "She is highly trained in the Libero position having spent many years in the USA National Team Development Program and understands the position well. Â A great defensive player who plays with passion and determination. We're so excited to have McKenna in the program and can't wait for her to get started with the Utes in January."

Michigan Miss Volleyball Finalist… Earned First Team All-State as an outside hitter (freshman), libero (sophomore), setter (junior)… Four-time All-League and All-district honoree… Recorded 29 digs in the state championship game which is third most for a Michigan championship game, adding 21 kills...Played club for Michigan Elite… 2023 AAU All-American… 2023 AAU National Runner-Up… 2024 Top five finisher at AAU Nationals and USA Volleyball Nationals… Attended USA Volleyball National Training Development Program in 2023… Was a Michigan State High Jump qualifier… Daughter of Paul and Anja Payne… Was an honor roll recipient every semester and Spanish National Honor Society member… She has an older sister, Hailey.

Katelynn Field | 6-4 | Middle Blocker| Harrisville, Utah | Weber HS (Pleasant View, UT)
"We couldn't be more pleased to have Kate be a part of our program," said Launiere. "She has great size and skill with tremendous upside in her future. She's a player that we believe will thrive at the next level not only because of her volleyball potential but also her high character and work ethic. She is a player from the state of Utah that will follow in the footsteps of many great local athletes that have played for the Utes. We can't wait to get started with Kate in the gym next fall."

A Utah native, Katelynn Field joins the Utes from nearby Weber High School… 2024 Utah 6A Regional Champion… Team captain… Averaged 2.5 kills per set, hitting .417 during her senior campaign… Tallied 170 assists… Recording 61 digs with 32 blocks on the defensive side… Finished the season with 18 aces from the service line… Competed at the club level for Club GSL… Daughter of Aaron and Tawna Field… Has been an Honor Roll recipient every semester of high school… Has three siblings, Emma, Weston and McKay.

Dyborrah Johnson | 6-1 | Middle Blocker | Gilbert, Ariz. | Camille Casteel HS
"Dyborrah is one of the best athletes ever recruited to the Utah Volleyball program and joined fellow future Ute Devyn Wiest in winning a USA Junior National Championship in 2024," said Launiere. "She is dynamic and fast which are two qualities we value in the middle blocker position. Dyborrah follows her brother who was a great football player for the Utes and we know she will leave her own mark on the Utah Volleyball program. We couldn't be more excited to have her join our program next fall."

2023 Offensive Player of the Year… First Team All-Conference… All-CUSD (Chandler Unified School District) First Team… Played club for AZ Storm Elite with fellow Utah signee Devyn Wiest… She is the daughter of Caroline Tuia… All three of Dyborrah's brothers played collegiate football, Johnny Blackmon (Southern Virginia), Jarriesse Blackmon (UC Santa Barbra), Julian Blackmon (Utah)… Julian was a standout safety for the Utes (2019 First Team All-American, 2017 Hear of Dallas Bowl MVP), continuing on to play professionally for the Indianapolis Colts.
