SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah swim and dive team wrapped up their home opener against the UNLV Rebels after more than a seventy-point win for the men's team and a forty-point triumph on the women's side, and next on the docket for the Utes is a dive trip to University of Texas for the three-day Texas Diving Invite, starting Friday morning.

Holly Waxman, freshman
Callie Eaglestone and junior
Kathryn Grant took the top three spots, and for the men, junior
Elias Petersen took gold on both 1m and 3m events.
In the last visit to the Texas Diving Invitational, Waxman, Grant, and Utah dive alumni Lizzy DeCecco snagged a third-place finish in the team diving event, putting them just ahead of Notre Dame and Stanford with a total score of 279.40. On the individual events, Waxman and Grant earned 12
th and 15
th on the 1m.
Previously on the Boards
- Petersen's 1m score of 393.15 came within one point of breaking Utah's school record and earned him his second gold of the night, after taking first in the 3m competition with 376.73.
- Waxman earned gold on both springboard events, leading off a 3m sweep with Eaglestone and Grant following close behind.
- Five Utes have their NCAA Zones cuts on both the 1m and 3m: Petersen, graduate Jesco Helling, Eaglestone, Grant, and Waxman.
- In Arizona, sophomore Emilia Nilsson Garip got her season off to an excellent start with a performance that included a first-place score of 293.33 in the women's 1m.
Looking Ahead
The Texas Diving Invitational will start Friday with prelim and final sessions continuing until Sunday. The swimmers will divide and head to Texas A&M Art Adamson Invitational in College Station, Texas and Grand Junction, Colo., the site of the CMU Invitational on Nov. 20 – 23.
