LINCOLN, Neb. – The Utah track & field team closed out the first day of action at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational Friday evening inside the Devaney Center Indoor Track.

Harley Daniel got things going on the track for Utah in the 60m hurdles prelims and ran an 8.83Â for 13th-overall to just miss out on the finals while
Bailey Kealamakia posted a mark of 8.98 for 17th-overall.

The 60m prelims were filled with speedsters as
Megan Rose recorded the fastest mark among the Women of Utah competing with a finishing time of 7.63 for 11th-overall.
Malia Overton was the next fastest Ute to cross the finish line after posting a run of 7.91 – which was just shy of her PR. Freshman
J'neya Hill was a hair behind Overton with her time of 7.95 (7.943).
Chloe Shewell closed things out by turning in a time of 7.95 (7.945).

Daniel, Kealamakia and Shewell doubled up for the day and ran in the 400m dash as well. Daniel was the fastest Ute in that race, registering a time of 56.39 while
Ally Gomm was just ever so slightly behind her with a mark of 56.44 to smash her previous PR time (58.57 aa). Kealamakia won her heat with a time of 56.95 with Shewell crossing the finish line with a 58.00 flat.

Over on the field events,
Delaney Gates registered her top mark of the evening in her first attempt with a leap of 5.33m (17-6) in the long jump.
Shana Van Elderen posted a new PR on her second attempt in the event after posting a mark of 5.17m (16-11.5).

Freshmen
Glo Hussey and
Rachel Bair recorded top-10 finishes for Utah in the pentathlon with Hussey accumulating 3298 points for seventh-overall while Bair finished with 3169 points for 10th-overall.

Hussey posted a pair of new PR marks during her day of competition, recording a new height of 1.61 (5-3.25) in the high jump and bested her previous mark in the 800m run with a time of 2:37.14. Bair also registered a pair of new PRs, posting a new 60m hurdles time of 9.61 before leaping a height of 1.49m (4-10.5) in the high jump for a new personal best.

The Women of Utah return to the Devaney Center Indoor Track on Saturday to close out the weekend in Lincoln starting with the women's 200m dash.
