SALT LAKE CITY – The 14th-ranked Utah cross country team will get tested in a championship race environment this Friday, Nov. 17, when it toes the line at the Zimmer Championship Course to compete in a loaded Nuttycombe Invitational that has 19 of the 31 teams participating ranked in the USTFCCCA top-30. OFF THE LINE
The Women of Utah will send 14 competitors to this week's stacked Nuttycombe Invitational as the Utes get their final tune-up in before heading into the championship season. Utah will have six women compete in the "B" race ahead of the "Championship" race where it'll have eight women run in.
LAST TIME AT THE NUTTYCOMBE
Erin Vringer led the Utes last season at the Nuttycombe Invitational, placing sixth-overall with a time of 20:14.2 while Utah claimed second as a team.
Annastasia Peters was Utah's next best finisher in 54th (21:01.0) followed by
Marika Couture in 74th (21:13.6) and
Lindsey Peters in 77th (21:15.0).
IN THE RANKINGS
Utah moved up three spots from No. 17 to No. 14 last week in the latest USTFCCCA Polls. The Utes are 1-of-6 teams in the Big 12 Conference ranked in the top 30 and is tied with the Big Ten for most teams ranked in the latest poll. The league also leads the country with four teams ranked in the top 10.
NCAA REGIONALS RETURN TO SLC
The NCAA Mountain Regionals, which is considered the toughest region in the country returns to Salt Lake City this year and hosted by the University of Utah at the Regional Athletic Complex. The meet is scheduled to take place on Friday, Nov. 14. The last time Utah hosted the mountain regionals was back in 2019 when it was hosted at Rose Park Golf Course. For more information, visit the
