SALT LAKE CITY – Utah head men's basketball coach
Alex Jensen named
Erick Schork as the newest director of men's basketball sports performance.
Â
"We're happy to have Coach Schork join our staff here in Salt Lake City," Jensen Said. "I've seen first-hand the work he's done to elevate players and programs. Erick is a world-class sports performance professional and we are fortunate to welcome him to Utah."
Â
Schork comes to SLC with familiarity having lived in the Beehive State since 2016. He joins the Runnin' Utes staff after spending the last two seasons at Snow College where he oversaw the development for eight different teams.
Â
"I'm excited to reconnect with Coach Jensen and work with him once again to help build something special here at the University of Utah," Schork said. "I can't wait to hit the ground running with our guys this summer and immerse myself in the community here in Salt Lake City."
Â
Prior to that, Schork was down the road at BYU where he served in the same role from 2016-23 under Dave Rose and Mark Pope.
Â
His relationship with Jensen started at Saint Louis where he was the director of strength and conditioning for men's basketball from 2007-16 that encapsulated the entire Rick Majerus Era for the Billikens.
Â
Before joining Majerus' staff, Schork spent four years (2003-07) as the director of strength and conditioning at Wright State. During his time in Dayton, Ohio, Schork was in charge of training for all 16 programs at Wright State. In addition, Schork also served as an adjunct professor in the college of education at WSU.
Â
His first stop at the collegiate level came at The Ohio State (1997-03). While in Columbus, he designed and implemented training programs for a slew of teams that included men's and women's ice hockey, men's volleyball, diving, men's and women's soccer, men's and women's golf and softball. Schork also served as a graduate assistant from 1995-97 at Western Michigan.
Â
In addition, he has also worked with the Buffalo Bills (NFL) and designed the first weight room for the Columbus Blue Jackets (NHL).
Â
Schork is a member of both the National Strength and Conditioning Association and Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association. He also earned the title of master strength and conditioning coach by the CSCCa in May of 2013.
