2023: Third-Team All-Pac-12...finished in the top 10 in the Pac-12 in victories with 13, which was also a career-high...posted Utah's second-highest totals in strikeouts, appearances, complete games and innings pitched...played a role in six Utah shutouts and crafted a 3.40 ERA...started the year by winning 10 of her first 11 decisions...fired six shutout innings against UC San Diego on 2/11...tossed a complete game shutout on 2/6 vs. Long Beach State...threw the first two innings of Utah's combined no-hitter against Niagara on 3/6...beat California with seven innings of one-run ball on 3/31...picked up a complete game victory over California on 5/11 in the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals.
2022: Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll... led the team in innings pitched for the second consecutive season (131.0)... compiled an 8-11 record with a team leading 2.83 ERA in 19 starts and 33 total appearances... threw four shutouts and combined for another three... reached the century mark in strikeouts (100) for the first time in her career while holding opponents to a .268 batting average... ranked eighth in the Pac-12 striking out 35 batters looking and ranked fifth in walks allowed (18)... finished top-15 in the nation in walks allowed per seven innings (0.96)... her four shutouts came against Missouri State (2/11), San Diego (2/21), UC Davis (2/26) and Seattle U (3/6).
2021: Pac-12 Honor Roll selection who led the team in innings pitched (117.2) and games started (20), and set a career high with 12 wins and 56 strikeouts... record of 12-11 with a 4.40 ERA, three complete games and one save... made just one error in 35 fielding situations... pitched a complete-game shutout for a 1-0 win over BYU on Feb. 12 in the Kajikawa Classic... her complete-game five-hitter propelled Utah to a 3-1 win over Oregon State on May 13 to help the Utes to a four-game series split with the Beavers.
2020: Starting pitcher in 9 games and made 16 total appearances… led the team with a record of 11-3 and pitched 3 complete games en route to a team-best 2.42 ERA … two saves… 11 wins ranked fourth nationally when the season was suspended… pitched 69-1/3 innings, allowing 61 hits and walking 8, with 35 strikeouts… Fielding percentage of 1.000 with 1 putout and 22 assists.
2019: Made 38 appearances, starting 14 in the circle ... pitched four complete games, her first collegiate win vs. Bradley, the season finale victory over Oregon State and games against Colorado State and Utah Valley ... went over 100 pitches three times with a career-high 160 at Arizona State ... picked up the victory in relief against Hofstra with three shutout innings ... two shutout innings of relief earned her a win against Niagara and then beat the Purple Eagles the next day as well ... earned her first Pac-12 wins against California, both in relief stints ... went six innings in a win over Washington ... five shutout innings earned her a win in the annual rivalry game with BYU ... came through with a pair of wins during the last homestand vs. Oregon.
Prior to Utah: Sandez was a member of the Mexican Junior National Team, which placed ninth at the Junior Worlds. At Olympian High School, she accumulated a 1.75 earned run average while racking up a .375 batting average at the plate. Sandez ranked as the No. 93 player in the nation by FloSoftball.com.

She threw a one-hitter in the CIF semifinals and followed that with a three-hitter in the championship game to win the Division 3 title for San Diego. Named a San Diego Prep Insider Player to Watch, Sandez was named MVP in 2017.
Personal: Sydney is the daughter of Leslie and Luis Sandez, who both attended San Diego State, and has two siblings, Lexie and Eduardo. She has a long list of athletes in her family as her mother and aunt Nicole both played collegiately and for the Mexican National Team. Her grandfather William played football at USC and her uncle Jake played baseball at UCLA and professionally with the Mariners, White Sox and Reds... Sydney is majoring in family, community and human development.
