Chris Lacsamana serves as the head football athletic trainer at the University of Utah, a role he assumed in August 2023. Lacsamana leads all aspects of sports medicine for the football program, overseeing injury evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation and return-to-play protocols.

He also is a member of the football program’s High-Performance Team, which incorporates sports medicine, sports science, strength & conditioning, nutrition and sports psychology.

Prior to Utah, he served as head athletic trainer for the XFL’s DC Defenders during the 2022 season. He also spent 2019-22 at Maryland as senior associate athletic trainer for football, where he oversaw daily medical operations, coordinated drug testing and led student-athlete welfare initiatives.

Before making the move to College Park, Maryland, Lacsamana held athletic training roles at Michigan (2017-19), Jacksonville State (2014-17) and Cleveland State (2010-14), directing sports medicine operations, managing departmental budgets and supervising multidisciplinary medical staffs.

Earlier in his career, he had collegiate stops at Alabama State, UAB, Towson and Johns Hopkins. He earned his master’s degree in exercise physiology from UAB (2000) and his bachelor’s degree in athletic training from Towson (1997).
