FORT WORTH, Texas - The Utah baseball team ended the weekend with a 7-6 victory over TCU.
The Utes were 1-2 against the Horned Frogs, also losing 10-6 and 17-1. The series brings Utah to a 16-17 record with a 4-8 Western Athletic Conference mark.
TCU is 23-15 and 14-3 in WAC play. In a 10 inning contest, the Utes scored the winning run when senior Ryan Johnerson tripled home Nate Weese.
With two outs in the 10th, Weese reached first on an error by TCU. The Utes held the Horned Frogs for the 7-6 win in the bottom of the 10th.
Ryan Hilts started Utah's momentum with a double in the first inning. Adam Castleton singled to right field and Hilts scored on an error by the right fielder.
The Utes lost their 1-0 lead when TCU scored a run in both the second and third innings, but came back to score four runs on three hits in the top of the fifth.
Eric Wallace singled and Johnerson was hit by a pitch. Both players were brought in on a double by catcher Jared Larsen. Mike Goff walked. He and Larsen scored on a double by Jamie Hardy who was 4-5 with two RBI in the game.
TCU scored one run in the fifth. Utah added another run in the sixth on two hits and a walk. TCU came back to tie the score with two runs in the seventh and one in the bottom of the ninth forcing the extra inning.
Starter Lance Ericksen pitched five innings yielding six hits and striking out two batters. Brandon Page earned the win in relief pitching two scoreless innings.
Overall, the Utes scored seven runs on 18 hits with one error. TCU had six runs on 10 hits with two errors.
