LARAMIE, Wyo. (AP) - Gregg Sawyer hit two free throws and Justin French made a three-point play in the final 1:26 as Wyoming scored the last six points to upset No. 5 Utah 62-56 Thursday night.
Wyoming (16-6, 6-4) trailed 56-53 after Andre Miller's jumper with 3:19 to go, but Sawyer was fouled 10 seconds later and made both free throws to cut Utah's lead to 56-55.
After Hanno Mottola missed a 3-pointer for Utah, French stole the ball and passed to Sawyer, who was fouled again with 2:36 left. Sawyer tied it at 56 with a free throw and gave Wyoming the lead on two more foul shots with 1:26 remaining.
French, who had only five points in the game, sealed the victory when he faked to the right, made a layup and converted the three-point play with 39 seconds left.
Sawyer had 13 points, Jeron Roberts 20 for Wyoming.
The Utes (20-2, 7-2 Western Athletic Conference) have not won at Wyoming since 1993, and split this year's series with the Cowboys.
Michael Doleac led Utah with 16 points as Utes coach Rick Majerus was denied his 300th career victory.
Utah led by as much as 28-23 in the first half and 31-27 at halftime. The Utes extended their lead to 38-31 early in the second half, but Wyoming outscored Utah 22-13 in the first 12 minutes of the half.
Wyoming tied it at 46 on Sawyer's 3-pointer with 8:04 to go. The Utes then missed two 3s while Wyoming's Bradley Mann and Andy Young each hit 3-pointers for a 51-46 lead at 6:33 to go.
Majerus dropped to 4-3 at Wyoming.
