ATLANTA -- The Utah softball team continued its Spring Break Trip with a doubleheader sweep of Georgia Tech on Wednesday. Utah took the opener 8-0 in six innings, outhitting the Yellow Jackets 11-2.
The Utes posted a run in the first before hammering out seven in the top of the sixth. Nicole Wilkinson led the U. at the plate, going 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI. Kristin Arbogast pitched the entire six innings, giving up just two hits and striking out five, to even her record at 3-3.
The Utes won the second game 8-4 despite committing four errors. Trailing 2-0, Utah broke the game open with three runs in the third and four in the fourth. Sandy Rhea drove in three runs and went 2-for-4 at the plate. Sarah Farnworth improved to 9-5 with the win, coming in to relieve Jamie Wilkes in the third. Georgia Tech falls to 11-16.
Utah, now 14-9, plays in Georgia Tech's Buzz Classic Friday through Sunday in Atlanta.
