BERKELEY, Calif. - Utah swept a softball doubleheader from Rutgers on Tuesday afternoon, winning the first game 5-1 and the second game 1-0. The two wins evened the Utes' record at 12-12 on the season.
Sarah Farnworth held the Lady Knights to just one run and seven hits, going the distance in the opener. She improved her record to 7-5. Lyndsey Trevis hit her first home run of the season. Lisa Hashimoto had a triple and Sunny Smith belted a double as the Utes scored a season-best seven runs.
Kristin Arbogast pitched a seven-hit shutout in game two to improve to 5-7. Smith hit her second double of the day and her seventh of the season. Utah plays in the prestigious Kia Klassic in Fullerton, Calif., Thursday through Sunday to close out their Spring Break trip.
