FULLERTON, Calif. - UNLV got all the offense it needed by scoring 10 runs in the second inning to defeat Utah 10-6 on Saturday in the first round of bracket play in the Kia Softball Klassic at Cal State Fullerton. The Utes fell to 12-16 after losing all four games in the tournament.
Sarah Farnworth took the loss to fall to 7-7. She threw seven innings, giving up 10 earned runs off of eight hits and six walks. She also struck out nine.
Lisa Hashimoto went 2-for-2 with two walks and scored two of Utah's six runs. Sunny Smith and Jenny Monson each went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
The Utes continue Western Athletic Conference play at San Jose State next Saturday and Sunday.
