SALT LAKE CITY -- Utah senior 6-9 forward Hanno Mottola will sit out at least one more game due to torn ligaments in his right thumb and left elbow. Mottolawas reevaluated by team physicians on Wednesday and the announcement was made by team trainer Trevor Jameson after Utah's practice.
Mottola, who has missed the last two games, has been ruled out for the Runnin' Utes' game against New Mexico on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. (MST) at The Pit in Albuquerque, N.M.,. He is also listed as doubtful for Monday night's 10:00 p.m. (MST) game against UNLV at the Huntsman Center. However, Jameson is pleased with Mottola's progress. His status for the remainder of the season will be determined on a game-by-game-basis.
Mottola is Utah's leader in scoring average (17.5 ppg) and is second in rebounding (5.2 rpg). He has missed 10 of the 23 games this season due to injury.
