IRVINE, California - The unranked Utah men's tennis team upset No. 52 UC Irvine, 5-2, at the UCI Tennis Stadium on Thursday, March 16.
The Utes won the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Utah's David Mercier and Trevor Ferguson upset Chris Ma and Chris Chung, who were currently ranked 49th nationally, by an 8-2 margin.
In singles matches, the Utes went on to win at No. 2, 3, 5 and 6. Utah's Kevin Zenger and Ashley Dyer both needed three sets to clinch their victories over Zoran Korac and Chris Chung.
The Utes' record improved to 5-7 with the win, while UC Irvine fell to 9-5.
