WACO, Texas – The University of Utah men's tennis team fell to the No. 9 ranked Baylor Bears 4-1 Thursday evening in Waco, Texas.
DOUBLES
The Bears secured the doubles point advantage to begin the match. Baylor secured wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spot.
In the No. 1 spot, Balthazar Huss and
Dante Teramo took their match against Baylor's Zsombor Velcz and Calvin Baierl into extra games, leaving the match unfinished at 6-5.
SINGLES
Utah's Simeon Terziev stared singles off by defeating Baylor's Connor Van Schalkwyk 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 spot.
Baylor won the remainder of the matches in the No. 5, No. 4, and No. 2 spots to clinch the match.
Dante Teramo took his match with No. 8 Devin Badenhorst into three sets, leaving the match unfinished at 6-3, 4-6, 3-4.
In the No. 6 spot AJ Deem's match against Baylor's Calvin Baierl was left unfinished with the score being left at 4-6, 6-6(5).
The Utes are now 5-14 on the season.
UP NEXT
Utah will stay in Texas to play No. 5 TCU in Fort Worth on Saturday, April 4. The Utes will return home to the George S. Eccles Tennis Center to play the University of Idaho on Friday, April 10 before hosting rival BYU April 12 for senior day.
