Utah Falls 4-2 to #26 Arizona State

SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah men's tennis team fell to the #26 ranked Arizona State Sundevils 4-2 this Thursday evening in Tempe, Arizona.

DOUBLES
Utah started off strong securing the doubles point against the Sundevils. Arizona State claimed a win in the No. 2 spot where Utah's Charles Frey and Emmett Potter battled against ASU's Ofek Shimanov and Milos Mikovic, but ultimately fell 6-4.

Utah responded on the No. 3 court where AJ Deem and Lorenzo Esquici defeated ASU's Shu Matsuoka and Niels Villard 6-3.

The doubles point came down to the No. 1 court where Utah's Balthazar Huss and Dante Teramo battled ASU's Jelani Sarr and Roi Ginat. Huss and Teramo won the set 7-6, securing the doubles point for Utah.

SINGLES
In singles play, Utah's Lorenzo Esquici fell to Arizona State's Jelani Sarr 6-2, 6-3 in the No. 3 spot.
At the No. 6 spot AJ Deem fell to Milos Mikovic 6-3, 6-2.

Captain Dante Teramo downed Arizona State's Ofek Shimanov 6-3, 6-4 on the No. 1 court, tying the match 2-2.

On the No. 4 court Balthazar Huss fell to ASU's Niels Villard 6-4, 6-4, to give ASU the one point lead.

At the No. 5 spot, Charles Frey took battled against Roi Ginat taking the match into three sets but ultimately fell 7-6, 3-6, 6-4. This secured the victory for the Arizona State Sundevils.

Emmett Potter's match against ASU's Shu Matsuoka was left unfinished after going into three sets.

The Utes are now 4-13 on the season.

UP NEXT
Utah will return to Geroge S. Eccles Tennis Center to play #66 Texas Tech on Sunday, March 29th. The Utes will then travel to Waco, to take on #8 Baylor on April 2nd.
