FRESNO, Calif. - On their first game on a three-game California road trip, the Utes fell 6-1 to Fresno State on Sun., Apr. 9. The victory was the Bulldog's 17th in a row, and 26th straight at home. The loss dropped Utah's season mark to 8-11.
Fresno State began the match by taking two of three doubles matches to grab a 1-0 lead. Ashley Dyer and David Laverty were the only Utes to secure a doubles victory, slamming to an 8-1 victory over David Mullins and Blake Smittcamp.
In singles play, the Bulldogs took matches one through five, all in straight sets. Ute junior Kevin Zenger earned the team's solitary point as he smashed Smittcamp, 6-0, 6-0. Zenger is 6-1 this year overall.
