ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Utes capped off their season on Friday with a 4-1 defeat of Air Force to clinch fifth place in the first ever Mountain West Conference Men's Tennis Tournament. Utah picked up wins from its last four singles positions to secure the victory. Senior Trevor Ferguson led the Utes with a hard-faught three-set match downing Kyle Rainey, 7-6, 6-7, 6-1 in what would be Ferguson's last match in a Utah uniform. Other wins came from No. 4 Daniel Carlsson who downed Eric Pittman, 7-6, 6-3, No. 5 David Laverty who slammed Chris Zielinski, 7-6, 6-2 and Kevin Zenger who pasted Doug Fik, 7-6, 6-3.
With the win, Utah finished the season with a 9-14 overall record.
