SALT LAKE CITY - Ute basketball player Phil Cullen has been selected to participate in the fourth annual NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference, which will be held May 28-June 1 at Disney's Coronado Springs Resort in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Cullen, a sophomore from Chelan, Wash., averaged 5.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game last season. He started 14 games and played in 32 for the Utes, who went 23-9, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and won the Mountain West Conference regular-season championship.
A total of 352 student-athletes, representing all NCAA divisions, a variety of different sports, both genders and different ethnicities, have been invited to attend the 2000 NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference. Student-athletes were nominated from NCAA member institutions that participate in the CHAMPS/Life Skills program. Cullen and the rest of the participants will engage in a variety of developmental exercises designed to enhance their communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills, as well as take part in collaborative projects and critical thinking.
