Salt Lake City - The University of Utah women's softball team ended their win-streak with a loss to Colorado State, 9-1 and 8-0, on the road. Utah's overall record is now 25-17, 4-2 in the MWC. Utah extends its win streak to eight with the two wins over the Rams. Colorado State moved to 10-19 on the season, 2-2 MWC.
In game one, senior Jenny Monson went 1-for-2 at the plate with one run. Teammates Lisa Hashimoto-Hall, Molly McLean, Lyndsey Trevis and Stacey O'Farrell had one hit each. As a team, Utah was only 5-of-22 from the plate. Kristin Arbogast took the loss for the Utes, pitching five innings, giving up eight hits, five runs, two walks and struck out six. Jeannette Herbert closed the game, giving up two hits, four runs and two walks.
For the Rams, Leslie Strassel was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI. Sara Hyzer was 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. Kyla Kiester recorded the win for Colorado State.
In game two, Utah had four hits and five walks against the Rams. Lisa Hashimoto-Hall, Lyndsey Trevis, Niki Hayhurst and Amberly Jeppson recorded one hit each. Kristin Arbogast took the loss, pitching six innings, giving up six hits, three runs and one walk. She moves to 22-14 on the season.
Alyson Carter led Colorado State with two hits. Tara Kroener was the winning pitcher for the Rams. She is now 2-7 overall.
Coming Up: On Sun., Apr. 9, the Utes head to Albuquerque, N.M., facing the Lobos of New Mexico in a doubleheader starting at 1:00 p.m. (PST). Utah will take on the Aggies of Utah State in Logan, Utah in a doubleheader match-up at 12:00 p.m. (MST). Utah travels to Provo, Utah to take on the Cougars of BYU on Sat., Apr. 15 in a doubleheader at 1:00 p.m. (MST). Utah will take on Southern Utah in Cedar City, Utah at 2:00 p.m. (MST) on Tues., Apr. 18.
