SALT LAKE CITY-The University of Utah women's soccer team had one final tune-up before starting the regular season this weekend. In an exhibition against Dixie State College Wednesday night, the Utes fired on all cylinders running away with a 5-0 victory.
Amy Kofoed recorded her third and fourth goals in only two exhibition contests, while Shauna Gurr, Missy Dennis, and Jordan Sleight each found the net. Kari Keddington and Amber Brower assisted a goal each.
"I didn't like the first 15 minutes of the game," said Head Coach Amy Winslow. "We settled down and knocked the ball around pretty well. Our backs need to make quicker decisions, but once we switched to a 3-5-2 we had a better second half."
Utah out shot Dixie 25-4, and the game was controlled predominantly on the Ute half of the field.
Friday marks the regular season opener, as Utah will be in Pocatello, Idaho to face Idaho State at 5:00 p.m.
