TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Utah men's tennis team faced the 49th ranked University of Arizona Monday, in Tucson, Ariz. Despite great doubles play, the Utes fell to the Wildcats 6-1. Each Ute competitor was defeated in his singles match.
The Utes continued their impressive doubles play by winning each match. Anchored by the duo of Kevin Zenger and Nicholas Yip, the three Ute doubles teams are undefeated in dual matches. Zenger and Yip defeated Steven Capriati and Whi Kim, 8-3. David Mercier and Daniel Carlsson were victorious over Tom Lloyd and Carl Hagman, 8-6. The tandem of Tyler Poulson and Corrie Scheepers knocked off Roeland Brateanu and Brian Jackson, 8-2.
The loss gives Utah a 1-1 dual record, while Arizona moves to 4-1 on the season. The Utes will be back in action Tuesday night against Arizona State.
