Colorado Springs, Colo. - Junior first baseman Nate Weese was named the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week, on Mon., Mar. 13.
Weese, from Bountiful, Utah (Bountiful HS), went 6-for-13 (.462) with eight RBI, five runs scored, a double and two home runs in three games at New Mexico this past week. Weese went 1-for-4 with a run in Utah's 16-11 series opening loss on Friday, followed by a 1-for-5 performance in the Utes' 9-4 win on Saturday. In that game, he broke a 3-3 tie with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning. On Sunday, Weese went 4-for-4 with six RBI and a two-run homer in the Utes' 13-3 win over the Lobos. This is Weese's second player of the week honor this season and the second of his career.
