PROVO, UTAH - The 66th-ranked University of Utah men's tennis squad fell to New Mexico, 5-2 on Mar. 24. The match was held at BYU, as the Lobos came out with the victory over the Utes. The loss drops Utah to 7-7 overall and 1-2 in conference play.
The Utes fell behind early, losing two of three doubles matches to give the point to New Mexico. David Mercier and Daniel Carlsson came out with the 8-5 doubles victory over the Lobos.
Mercier and Nicholas Yip battled to victory in their singles matches from the No. 2 and No. 3 spots, but the Utes were unable to pull out ahead in other singles matches, as the Lobos took the 5-2 victory.
The Utes will take to the road to finish conference play against UNLV and San Diego State Mar. 30-31. Both matches will take place in San Diego, Calif. Utah will wrap up their season at home against Denver and Montana Apr. 10-12.
