SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - The Utah Men's Tennis Team performed well on their extended road trip by sweeping Northern Arizona and New Mexico State in duel matches. The Utes prevailed over Northern Arizona, 5-2 as well as New Mexico State, 5-2.
In NAU's singles competition, Utah's Corrie Scheepers defeated NAU's Daniel Lundstrom, 6-1, 6-4. David Mercier overcame Thibault Schram, 7-5, 6-0. Daniel Lohff ousted Jonathon John, 7-5, 6-3. Tyler Poulson defeated NAU's Adrian Venturi, 6-2, 6-0. Kaisorn Chairchana doused NAU's Jeremy Coll, 7-6, 6-2.
In New Mexico State's singles, Scheepers defeated Bern Newcombe from New Mexico State, 6-3, 7-6. Utah's Daniel Carlsson finished off Ben Archer-Clowes, 6-3, 6-2. Lohff beat out Luis Avila, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3. Poulson defeated New Mexico State's Danilo Zivanovic, 6-4, 6-2. Tubius Targberg doused Dan Even, 6-3, 6-3.
In NAU's doubles competition, Mercier and Yip defeated NAU's John and Lundstrom, 8-6.
In New Mexico State's doubles competition, Mercier and Yip defeated New Mexico State's Newcombe and Zivanovic, 8-4. Poulson and Tangberg prevailed over Archer-Clowes and Hellwig, 8-5. Sheepers and Englebrecht and Even and Avila, 8-4.
The Utes continue their road trip by traveling to Boise, Idaho for a match against Boise State on Feb. 14. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
