SALT LAKE CITY -- Britton Johnsen, a 6-9 junior forward, and Nick Jacobson, a 6-4 sophomore guard, earned all-district 13 honors from the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC). The two Runnin' Utes were among 10 players honors from the region.
Johnsen, a first team selection, is Utah's second-leading scorer at 12.7 points per game. He leads the Utes and is rated ninth in the Mountain West Conference in rebounds (5.7 rpg). The Murray, Utah, native also ranks 14th in the MWC in field goal percentage (48.8) and 10th in blocked shots (15). Johnsen has scored in double figures 18 times in 2001-02 with two double-doubles in points and rebounds.
Jacobson, who made the second team, leads the Utes in scoring at 13.5 points per game. The Fargo, N.D., native also ranks 16th in the NCAA in three-point field goal percentage (45.5) and second in the Mountain West Conference in three-pointers made per game (2.55). Jacobson has scored in double figures 15 times this season.
The 150 student-athletes from 15 districts honored by member coaches are eligible to be named to the NABC/Pontiac Division I All-America Team at the conclusion of the season.
