San Marcos, Texas - Southwest Texas received two complete games from its pitching staff and all the run production it would need from its catcher for a pair of shutouts against Utah, 2-0 and 1-0. Utah drops to 6-15 overall, 0-0 in MWC play.
SW Texas State's Jennie Tomme drove in two runs in game one with a single to right, then drove in the lone run of the second game with a double to left, giving the Bobcats two wins at Bobcat Field.
Bobcat pitcher Jessica Chase tossed a six-hit shutout in the opener, striking out five along the way. In the nightcap, SW Texas State's Nicole Neuerburg fanned eight while scattering five hits.
Southwest Texas (10-9) could only manage seven hits on the afternoon, but the Utes provided the baserunners, hitting a batter then walking two before Tomme's single in game one, then committing a three-base error prior to the senior's double in game two.
