SALT LAKE CITY - Utah junior forward Britton Johnsen is the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week after leading the Utes to 2-0 record last week. This is Johnsen's first player of the week honor of his career. Johnsen, from Murray, Utah, (Murray HS) averaged 24.0 points and eight rebounds last week. He shot 61 percent from the field (14-of-23), 43 percent from three-point range (4-of-7) and averaged two blocks per game.
In the 71-66 win against BYU, Johnsen scored a team-high 20 points off 5-of-12 (42 percent) shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season and second in the last four games. He also blocked two shots and hit a career-best 10-of-12 free throws. Johnsen had a career-high 28 points, hitting 9-of-10 from the field and 3-of-4 from three-point range, while blocking two shots and pulling down six boards in the 67-62 win over Colorado State. Johnsen has scored at least 20 points in each of the last three MWC contests. He is averaging 24.3 points per game while shooting 65.7 percent from the floor and 50.0 percent from three-point range during that time.
