SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah men's tennis team played host to Sacramento State University on Fri., Mar. 15 at the Eccles Tennis Center. Utah downed Sacramento State 6-1 to move to 9-7 on the year and end its two match losing streak. Utah also remains undefeated at home (6-0).
In singles competition, Sacramento State's Sherif Zaher defeated Corrie Scheepers (6-0, 0-6, 6-3) at the one position. At the two, Nik Yip downed SSU's Matthew Jones (6-2, default). Daniel Carlsson beat SSU's Fabio Jesus (6-4, 2-6, 7-5) at the three. Tyler Poulsen defeated SSU's Nick Sheehan (6-4, 6-2), Daniel Lohff downed SSU's Ali Abbou (6-2, 6-1) and Tobias Tangberg defeated SSU's Peter Farkas (6-2, 6-2).
In doubles, Yip/Lohff defeated Sacramento's Zaher/Price (9-8) at the one position. Poulson/Carlsson downed Abbou/Sheehan (8-2) and Scheepers/Tangberg beat SSU's Farkas/Jesus (9-8).
