Fullerton, Calif. - The University of Utah softball team continued a seven-game losing streak with two more losses at the Kia Classic in Fullerton, Calif. On Fri., Mar. 15 the Utes dropped a 3-0 decision to Cal State Northridge and on Sat., Mar. 16, Utah lost 8-0 to Oklahoma.
In the game vs. Cal State Northridge, Utah managed just six hits in 26 at bats. Melissa Stahnke went 1-for-3 with a double. Heather Bowlin recorded the loss for the Utes, she now moves to 6-10 overall.
Oklahoma racked up 15 hits, eight runs and eight RBI, while Utah tallied just six hits in the game. Senior Lyndsey Trevis went 2-for-3 and Niki Hayhurst was a perfect 2-for-2 at the plate. Jen Pursell took the loss for Utah. Pursell is now 4-14 on the season.
UP NEXT: On Wed., Mar. 20, Utah is back at home taking on in-state rival Utah State at 3:00 p.m. On Fri., Mar. 29, the Utes open MWC play on the road, facing the Aztecs of San Diego State in a doubleheader contest at 1:00 p.m. Utah continues MWC play facing UNLV on Sat., Mar. 30 at 3:00 p.m in Las Vegas, Nev.
