Logan, Utah - The University of Utah softball team defeated the Utah State Aggies, 6-2 in a non-conference match-up on Tues., Apr. 2 in Logan, Utah. The Utes improve to 13-28 overall, 2-2 in MWC play. Utah State drops to 3-29 on the season.

For the Utes, sophomore Melissa Stahnke went 3-for-4 on the day with a three-run homer in the first inning to give the Utes an early lead. Stahnke also tallied two runs scored in the game. Senior Molly McLean went 1-for-2 with a double one run and an RBI. Sophomore Heather Bowlin held the Aggies scoreless for three innings, giving up just one hit and two walks in 11 batters faced. Teammate Jen Pursell came in to close the game for Utah. Pursell recorded the win for Utah. She pitched four innings and gave up four hits, two runs and zero walks in 16 batters faced. As a team, Utah tallied nine hits in 31 at bats, along with six runs and five RBI.

Utah State's Kara Foster went 2-for-3, while Aimee Johnson went 1-for-3 with a double, one run and an RBI in the game. Kristin Hommel took the loss for the Aggies. She now moves to 1-12 overall.
