Utah Quick Hits: The Utes are 7-2 at home this season, 20-16 overall. Utah is hitting .359 at Franklin Covey, while holding its opponents to a .278 average. On the mound, the Utes have a team ERA of 5.35 at home. Senior Brit Pannier leads the Utes with 51 hits, 41 RBI and 17 doubles after a great series against BYU last weekend. Mitch Maio and Cheyenne Rushton guide the pitching staff with five wins each, and Maio has a team-high 51 strikeouts.
Scouting The Mavericks: The last time around, Utah took two-of-three games from the Mavericks. Last week, Mesa State took three-of-four from Nebraska Kearney at home. Leading the Mavericks plate attack is Deke DeCrow, who is hitting .444 with 36 RBI and 16 doubles. Overall, Mesa State is hitting .357, while their opponents are only batting .265. The team has two eight-win pitchers in Dan Clements and Bryan King.
Last Week: Utah lost its conference series to Brigham Young, 1-2 in Provo, Utah. In game one, the Utes struggled offensively and only avoided being shutout after Brit Pannier ripped a home run in the top of the ninth to make it a 5-2 final. Game two was all Utah, as it knocked in 12 runs in the first inning and went on to win, 17-3. Game four proved to be a nailbiter. Utah led through seven innings, but yielded that lead and eventually went to extra innings. In the bottom of the 12th, the Cougars loaded the bases with no outs and went on to score the winning run off a walk (10-9), to take the series.
Who's Hot: Brit Pannier finished the BYU series with 8 RBI off six hits, including four doubles and a home run. The senior outfielder also scored six runs and had a perfect fielding percentage.
Donnie Saba smacked seven hits, including four doubles and a home run against BYU. The junior knocked in four runs and crossed the plate six times himself.

Take Note: Matt Ciaramella and Brit Pannier have team-high six game hitting streaks heading into the Mesa State series. As a team, Utah extended its home run streak to 18 games in which a home run was hit after knocking out one in each of its games against BYU last weekend. Speaking of extra bases, the Utes have at least one double in all but two of their 36 games. Adam Castleton needs one more double to tie the Ute career record of 56.
On Deck: Utah continues its homestand by hosting Air Force Apr. 12-13 in a three-game conference series. Friday's match up is a doubleheader beginning at noon, while Saturday's game also begins at noon.
