SALT LAKE CITY - The Utah men's basketball team's annual Night with the Runnin' Utes will take place Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7:00 p.m. in the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Crimson Club members are also invited to an autograph and photo session with the team after the scrimmage from 8:30-9:30 p.m.
This year's event is sponsored by the Deseret News. EA Sports will be giving away 100 demo copies of its 2004 college basketball video game. Fans will also have the chance to be videotaped for inclusion in the official release of the video game later this fall.
The event is free to the public and will give Utah fans a chance to preview the 2003-04 edition of the Runnin' Utes. After the players are introduced, dribbling, three-point shooting and free throw shooting contests will be held. The players will then participate in a 30-minute intrasquad scrimmage.
Utah returns three starters and three other lettermen from last year's team that went 25-8 overall, advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and claimed a share of the Mountain West Conference championship with an 11-3 mark.
The Runnin' Utes play their first exhibition game against the L.A. City All-Stars on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:00 p.m. Utah opens the regular season against Georgia State in the first round of the Preseason NIT on Monday, Nov. 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Huntsman Center.
