Utes Conclude Day Three Of The ITA Mountain Region Championships

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The University of Utah men's tennis team completed the third day of the ITA Mountain Region Championships held at Fertitta Tennis Center.
The Utes fared well in the singles consolation draw. In the first round, freshman Jason Yap downed Sky Jensen of Air Force (6-0, 6-2). In the second round, freshman Miron Mann defeated freshman Ryan Scott (6-2, 6-2) while Yap defeated Ryan Bair of Utah State (6-2, 7-6). Junior Tomasz Gryzb beat Andrew Corlett of Weber State (6-1,6-2). Freshman Dantley Young fell to Jonah Nelson of Utah State (6-2, 6-2). In the third round, Mann outplayed Milos Blagojevic of UNLV (6-2, 6-2). Tomasz Grzyb downed Robert Grzeskowiak of New Mexico (6-4, 6-3) but Yap fell to Alonso Medina of BYU (6-2,6-4).
In the third round of the doubles main draw, Grzyb/Yap defeated Kowalski/Stotland of New Mexico (8-6). Brateanu/Mann downed Bundalo/Dvorak of Colorado (8-4). The Utes advanced to the quarterfinals but fell short when Grzyb/Yap lost to Digliodo/Tsuda of Colorado (8-4) and Brateanu/Mann fell to Lechuga/Roshan of BYU (8-5).
Competition continues Saturday Oct. 25 with the doubles semifinals, singles quarter and semifinals, and the final rounds of the consolation bracket.
