SALT LAKE CITY - Former University of Utah standouts Keith Van Horn, Michael Doleac and Britton Johnsen will face each other as the New York Kicks meet the Orlando Magic on Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. (MST) on ESPN as part of the NBA's opening week. Andre Miller, the Basketball Times Player of the Year with the Utes in 1998-99, plays his first regular-season game with the Denver Nuggets on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. (MST)
Van Horn, an All-American in 1995-96 and '96-97, makes his regular-season debut with the Knicks on Wednesday. Van Horn has been in the NBA since the 1997-98 season, playing previously with the New Jersey Nets and the Philadelphia 76ers.
Doleac is in his second season with the Knicks. A senior All-American on Utah's 1998 NCAA Final Four team, Doleac was drafted by the Orlando Magic, spending three years with the team before moving on to Cleveland in 2001-02 and New York last season.
Johnsen signed with the Magic as a free agent after making their 2003 training camp roster. He has been a starter at times during the preseason. Johnsen, a native of Murray, Utah, was the 2002 Mountain West Conference Player of the Year.
Miller signed with the Nuggets this past off-season. An All-American at Utah in 1997-98 and '98-99, Miller played the first three years of his NBA career with the Cavaliers and was with the L.A. Clippers last season.
Utah has sent seven players to the NBA during Rick Majerus' 14-year tenure, including five in the last seven years.
