SALT LAKE CITY - Utah, the No. 9 seed in the Midwest Regional, received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament with a 24-7 record. The Runnin' Utes open NCAA Tournament play against No. 8 seeded Oregon (23-9) on Friday at the Gaylord Entertainment Center (17,413) in Nashville, Tenn. Should Utah win that game, it will face the winner of No. 1 Kentucky (29-3) vs. No. 16 IUPUI (20-13) in the second round on Sunday. Game times are yet to be determined.
The Utes are appearing in thier 10th NCAA Tournament overall and their eighth in a row under Rick Majerus. (The Utes missed the tournament in 2001 while Majerus took a personal leave of absence).
