Majerus Named Basketball Times Rockies Region Coach Of The Year

SALT LAKE CITY - Rick Majerus has been named the Rockies Region Coach of the Year by the Basketball Times. The magazine will announce its entire postseason award winners in the April issue.
Majerus led a Utah team with just four returning lettermen to a share of the Mountain West Conference regular-season title, a 25-8 record and the second round of the NCAA Tournament in 2002-03.
Utah captured its 10th regular-season conference title in the last 13 years, which is the most by any team in the nation over that period. Majerus also took the Utes to the NCAA Tournament for the 10th time in his 14-year tenure, guiding them to at least the second round for the ninth time.
Majerus became the 16th-fastest coach to reach the 400 career wins plateau this season, taking just 538 games to do so. He also captured his 300th win at Utah in February.
