SALT LAKE CITY--Utah pitcher Heather Bowlin has been named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week. This is the second weekly honor for the Missouri native this year.
Bowlin went 1-1 in two conference appearances for the Utes last week. In 12.1 innings of work, the junior gave up no earned runs, two walks and nine hits. She started the week with a strong five-inning outing against UNLV that resulted in a combined 9-0 shutout with teammate Brianna Gourdin. Bowlin scattered three hits and struck out three in the victory. In game two against San Diego State, she threw seven scoreless innings before the Aztecs scored the game-winning unearned run in the bottom of the eighth for a 1-0 victory. Bowlin gave up six hits and struck out three, while walking one.
