SALT LAKE CITY - In their third match in as many days, the University of Utah men's tennis team lost to San Diego State today, falling 7-0 to the thirty-eighth ranked Aztecs. The loss puts the Utes record to 8-11 on the season, 1-2 in the Mountain West Conference.
The positive note in the match was Roeland Brateanu and Nick Coutts meeting the nation's top-ranked doubles pairing of Oliver Maiberger and Ryan Redondo. Although the Ute tandem lost, they gave the top-ranked pair a run, falling 8-6.
In singles matches, Daniel Lohff and Nick Coutts both extended their opponents to three sets, with Daniel Lohff meeting Maiberger in no. one singles and Coutts facing Aramndo Carrasoca in no. five singles. Lohff fell 1-6, 6-3, 6-3, and Coutts fell 6-7, 6-2, (10-5).
The Utes will face New Mexico and Air Force next weekend in Colorado Springs.
