Utah Update
Utah went 1-2 in a three-game series at the University of Central Florida last weekend. On Friday night, the Utes suffered an 11-1 loss, giving up 13 hits and committing four errors in the game. Saturday afternoon Utah dropped a 7-6 heartbreaker to UCF, stranding the game-tying and game-winning runs in the eighth inning. Sunday Utah needed extra innings to come away with a 3-2 victory over UCF. Freshman designated hitter John Welsh hit a solo homer in the 10th inning to give the Utes their first win of the season.
Scouting the Opposition
No. 9 Tulane (5-1) completed a three-game home sweep of the University of Maryland-Baltimore County last weekend. On Friday, Tulane tallied a season-best 14 hits while handing UMBC an 8-1 defeat. Saturday the Green Waves swiped a season-best nine bases while sophomore J.R. Crowel struck out a career-high 10 batters on route to a 10-2 win.
