Quoting Head Coach Mona Stevens
"We are the best 7-15 team in the country in my mind and in the mind of several other coaches. After our games this weekend, teams were coming up to us and saying you are one of the best teams we have played. We are losing to those teams by only a few runs and that shows we are really close to turning the corner.
"Brianna Gourdin and Samantha Schroeder are throwing very well for us right now. Bri came in and shutdown UCLA and allowed only two hits against North Texas, which is a good hitting team."
Ute Notables
Utah snapped its 10 game losing streak with a win over North Texas on Sunday. Utah is being outhit by its opponents .268-.226. However, Utah has hit 24 home runs compared to its opponents 15. The Ute pitchers have a combined 3.20 ERA compared to their opponents' 3.19 team ERA.
Stevens Approaching 250th Career Victory
Mona Stevens, in her eighth season at Utah, is approaching the 250-career win mark. Stevens has a 244-192-1 record to date.
