SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The University of Utah men's tennis team concluded its spring break road trip with a close 4-3 win over Dartmouth at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club.
The Utes got off to a good start by sweeping the doubles matches and earning the one point lead. The duo of senior Roeland Brateanu and freshman Miron Mann conquered Dartmouth's Neal Bobba and Drew Dinkmeyer (8-4) at the No. 1 spot. At the No. 2, sophomores Tomasz Gryzb and Nick Coutts teamed up to defeat Jesse Paer and Borko Kereshi (9-8) at the No. 2, while freshman Ryan Scott and sophomore Mike Bullard took care of Dave Webb and Reyes (8-6) at the No. 3.
In singles, the Utes picked up some crucial wins. After three sets, Brateanu dispatched Bobba (7-6, 3-6, 6-0) at the No 1. Gryzb dropped to Webb (6-1,6-1) at the No. 2, while Mann walked away with a (7-5, 7-6) win over Dinkmeyer at the No. 3. Competing at the No. 4, freshman Dantley Young fell to Mark Brodie (6-3, 6-4). Coutts downed Kereshi (6-4, 6-2) at the No. 5 and Scott dropped to Paer (4-6, 6-4, 6-0) at the No. 6.
