Ben Buck Named MWC Pitcher of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah senior Ben Buck has been named Mountain West Conference Pitcher of the Week. Buck, a senior from Thornton, Colo. (Skyview HS) went 1-0 in three appearances last week.

In the doubleheader against Southern Utah last Tuesday, Buck pitched 2.0 innings of relief, giving up just two hits, while striking out three.

On Friday, he pitched one inning of relief in the second game of the series against the Lobos, giving up one hit. The following day, he threw a complete-game win, pitching all nine innings, giving up two runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits.

For the week, Buck pitched 12.0 innings, giving up just one earned run on nine hits for 0.75 ERA. He struck out six and walked just one.

On the season, Buck leads the Utes with a 4.11 ERA in a team-high 17 appearances.
