Chris Jones Named Director of Utah Basketball Operations

SALT LAKE CITY - Chris Jones, who played at the University of Utah in the early '90s and was the team's video coordinator for three years, has been named by head coach Ray Giacoletti as the Utes' director of men's basketball operations.
Jones played at Utah for two seasons (1992-94) and was a part of the '92-93 team that won the WAC regular season title and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. He earned a degree in sociology from the U. in 1994. He served as the team's video coordinator from 1995-97.
After working with former Ute assistant Tommy Connor at Champions Athletic Academy for three years, Jones was Connor's assistant coach at Westminster College the past two years. This past season, Westminster advanced to the NAIA National Tournament, was ranked 21st in the nation and won the Frontier Conference championship.
The Salt Lake City native graduated from Judge Memorial High School in 1990. Jones and his wife, Emily, have a son, Rylan, and a daughter, Rendi.
"We're excited to have Chris as a part of our staff and program," Giacoletti said. "He is someone who brings great ties with Salt Lake City and the University of Utah. I think Chris can help us in a number of different factions within the state, the community and the university."

"My first impressions of Coach Giacoletti is that he is a great guy and a great coach, and I'm honored that he would consider me for this position. I'm excited to be back here and hopefully we can have a lot of success."
