The Runnin' Utes make their final road trip of the regular season, taking on Air Force on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1:04 p.m. (MST) in Colorado Springs, Colo., and New Mexico on Monday, Feb. 21 at 7:07 p.m. (MST). The Utah vs. Air Force game will be televised by ESPN+Plus as the Mountain West Conference "Game of the Week."

Quickly On Utah
The Runnin' Utes (21-3, 9-0 MWC) close out a two-game home stand against Wyoming (14-8, 6-3 MWC) on Monday at 7:05 p.m. (MST) at the Jon M. Huntsman Center (15,000). The game will be broadcast on Hot Ticket 700 (KALL-AM) and the Utah Sports Network. Utah is 13-0 at home this season and has a 14-game homecourt winning streak that ranks tied for 10th-best in the nation.

Utah is coming off a 64-50 win over Colorado State on Saturday night in Salt Lake City. Last weekend the Utes swept a pair of road games, winning 61-41 at San Diego State on Saturday night and 54-51 at UNLV on Monday night.

Utah is ranked in the two major Top 25 polls for the third consecutive week, moving up six spots to No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and seven spots to No. 15 and ESPN/USA Today poll. Utah has won 16 games in a row, which ranks as the second-best winning streak in the nation. During its recent winning streak, Utah has won by an average of 17.4 points per game.

Sophomore center/forward Andrew Bogut (7-0, 245) leads the Utes in scoring (20.0 ppg), rebounding (11.9 rpg) and blocked shots (46), and is shooting 64.5 percent from the field. Bogut has 16 double-doubles this season and is tied for first in the nation in that category. Senior guard Marc Jackson (6-1, 175) is second in scoring (10.8 ppg), hitting 51.2 percent of his three-point attempts (44-of-86) and 83.7 percent of his free throws. Jackson is second on the team in assists (3.50 apg). Junior forward Bryant Markson (6-6, 190) is third on the team in scoring (10.6 ppg) and second in rebounding (3.9 rpg). Junior forward/guard Richard Chaney, who has played in the last six games after missing seven with a broken left hand, is fourth on the team in scoring average (9.6 ppg). Junior guard Tim Drisdom (6-3, 203) is first on the team in assists (3.54 apg) and has a 2.18 assists to turnover ratio.

As of Feb. 8, the Utes ranked second in the NCAA in field goal percentage (53.3), third in rebound margin (+10.7) and sixth in scoring defense (56.6 ppg). Andrew Bogut was ranked second in rebounding (11.7 rpg), third in field goal percentage (64.9) and 28th in scoring (19.5 ppg).

Runnin' Utes Achieve Highest National Ranking Since 2000-01
The Runnin' Utes climbed six spots to No. 15 in the Associated Press poll and seven spots to No. 15 in the ESPN/USA Today poll in the rankings released on Feb. 7. It is the highest Utah has been ranked since being ranked No. 13 in the AP poll on Nov. 21, 2000. That season, Utah was No. 13 in the preseason poll, climbed to No. 12 on Nov. 14, then fell to No. 13 the following week. The Utes were ranked five consecutive weeks that year, falling out after coming in at No. 22 on Dec. 5.

Before this season, Utah was ranked last in 2002-03. The U. was ranked No. 23 on Feb. 18 and No. 22 on Feb. 25. The Utes were ranked by AP for 12 weeks during the 1999-2000 season, but never got higher than its No. 15 ranking in the preseason poll. During the 1998-99 season, Utah was ranked 11 weeks and peaked at No. 6 on March 9.

Utah Riding Second Best Winning Streak In The Nation
With its win over Colorado State on Saturday night, Utah extended its winning streak to 16 games, which ranks as the second best current streak in NCAA Division I behind Illinois' run of 25 consecutive wins.

The Utes' 16-game winning streak ranks tied for the fourth-longest in school history, equalling 16-game run in 1913. It is also Utah's longest winning streak since the 1998-99 season when the Utes won a school record 23 consecutive games in a row. With a victory over Wyoming on Monday, Utah would tie another 17-game streak set from Dec. 4, 1990 until Jan. 31, 1991 for the third-best in the school annals.

During its recent winning streak, Utah has won by an average of 17.4 points per game. Its closest game was a four-point win (57-53) at UNLV on Feb. 7. Utah has won every other game by at least 11 points. The Utes have won six times by 20 points or more.

Scouting The Cowboys
Wyoming is 14-8 overall and in third place in the Mountain West Conference with a 6-3 record. The Cowboys have won six of their last seven games after falling to the Utes (74-49) on Jan. 15 in Laramie, Wyo. Two of those wins were in overtime. Wyoming is also riding a four-game winning streak, getting home wins over Colorado State on Jan. 29 (69-56), Air Force on Feb. 5 (67-63 OT) and New Mexico on Feb. 7 (81-71), as well as a road win at BYU on Saturday night (59-58). The Pokes are 4-6 away from the Arena-Auditorium this season, including a 3-5 mark on opponents' home courts.

Senior guard Jay Straight (5-11, 178) ranks fifth in the Mountain West in scoring (17.6 ppg), 18th in rebounding (4.1 rpg), 12th in free throw percentage (74.4), second in assists (5.45 apg) and fourth in steals (1.59 spg). Senior guard Dion Sherrell (6-4, 210) is 14th in the conference in scoring (11.2 ppg), first in free throw percentage (85.1) and 12th in three-point percentage (36.5, making 27-of-74). Senior forward/center Alex Dunn (7-0, 240) ranks fifth in the MWC rebounds (8.4 rpg) and is averaging 9.4 points per game. Junior forward/center Justin Williams (6-10, 215) ranks seventh in the league in rebounds (6.4 rpg), third in field goal percentage (59.0) and first in blocked shots (3.27 bpg).

Wyoming ranks third in the MWC in scoring (71.6 ppg), seventh in scoring defense (70.7 ppg), second in rebound margin (+5.2 rpg), fourth in field goal percentage (44.9) and first in blocked shots (5.36 bpg).

Head Coach Steve McClain
Steve McClain has a 125-77 career record in his seventh season at Wyoming. McClain's team had posted three consecutive 20-win seasons before going 11-17 last season. The Cowboys went 21-11 overall, tied for third in the MWC and advanced to the second round of the NIT in 2002-03. In 2001-02, McClain led the Cowboys to a 22-9 record and an 11-3 mark in league play to claim UW's second consecutive Mountain West title. Wyoming also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament. McClain's team went 20-10 in 2000-02 and finished in a three-way tie with Utah and BYU for the MWC title at 10-4, capturing the Pokes' first conference title in 15 seasons. He has led three Wyoming teams to the NIT and one to the NCAAs.

Prior to going to Wyoming, McClain served as an assistant coach for Billy Tubbs at TCU. During his four seasons at TCU, McClain helped the Horned Frogs to one NIT appearance (1997), one NCAA appearance (1998) and one conference title (1998). In 1994 as the head coach at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas, he led his team to the National Junior College Championship while earning NJCAA National Coach of the Year honors.

Utah vs. Wyoming Series Notes
? Utah and Wyoming meet for the 157th time on Monday night in a series that dates back to a 41-25 win by Utah on March 11, 1914 in Laramie, Wyo. Other than not meeting during the 1996-97 and 1998-99 seasons, the Runnin' Utes and Cowboys have met every year since 1943-44.

? Utah leads the all-time series 86-70. The Utes took the first meeting this season 74-49 on Jan. 15 in Laramie, Wyo.

? Wyoming won the final meeting last season, 74-65 on Feb. 16 in Laramie, to snap a three-game winning streak by the Runnin' Utes.

? In conference regular-season play, Utah has a 73-60 advantage. Since the formation of the Mountain West Conference in 1999-2000, Utah leads 6-5.

? In Salt Lake City, the Utes are 54-22, winning nine of the last 10. Utah had won seven in a row before Wyoming prevailed 54-46 on Feb. 4, 2002. Before then, Utah had not lost to Wyoming in the Huntsman Center since falling 70-57 on Feb. 22, 1992. Utah has taken its last two home games over Wyoming, including an 80-49 win last season on Jan. 17.

? Ray Giacoletti is 1-1 against Wyoming. His Eastern Washington team lost to the Cowboys 78-71 in Laramie, Wyo., in the first round of the NIT on March 20, 2003.

? Steve McClain is 5-6 against Utah during his tenure at Wyoming, including a 1-4 record in Salt Lake City.

Last Meeting
Reserve forward Jonas Langvad scored a career-high 19 points in leading Utah to its ninth consecutive victory with an easy 74-49 win over Wyoming on Jan. 15 at the Arena-Auditorium. It was the Runnin' Utes' most decisive win in Laramie, Wyo., since winning 99-74 in 1974.

Bryant Markson added 15 points, Tim Drisdom 13, and Andrew Bogut 12 for the Utes. Marc Jackson recorded a career-high 10 assists.

Utah scored the game's first 16 points--half of them by Markson, who had 11 points in the first half--and the Utes never faced a serious challenge the rest of the contest.

Wyoming, which missed its first 10 shots and hit just 28.6 percent from the field in the first half, didn't get on the scoreboard until Chris Anderson hit one of two free throws at the 10:18 mark.

Wyoming would get no closer than 13 points the rest of the game as Utah led 32-16 at halftime and went ahead by as many as 32 points in the second half.

Jay Straight led the Cowboys with 12 points--six below his average. Kevin Lewis had 10, all in the second half after not playing in the first half.

The Cowboys finished the game shooting 37 percent from the field (18-of-49), while Utah made 59 percent (27-of-46). Utah also outrebounded Wyoming 35-22.

Boasting Of Bogut, Utah's Wooden and Naismith Awards Candidate
Sophomore forward Andrew Bogut (7-0, 245) has been named a candidate for the John R. Wooden and Naismith national player of the year awards. Bogut leads the Utes in scoring (20.0 ppg), rebounds (11.9 rpg) and blocked shots (46). He is also third in assists (2.50 apg) and second in steals (27), and is shooting 64.5 percent from the field and 72.2 percent from the free throw line. He has led the Utes in scoring 17 times and rebounding 22 times this season. In an effort to promote Bogut for All-America and national player of the year honors, the University of Utah has launched an official Andrew Bogut website at www.utahutes.com/andrewbogut.

? In the NCAA statistical rankings released on Feb. 8, Bogut was second in rebounds per game (11.7), third in field goal percentage (64.9) and 28th in points per game (19.5).

? Bogut has had double-doubles in 16 of the 24 games this season and ranked tied for first in the nation in that category as of Feb. 13.

? Bogut has scored in double figures in all 24 games this season, bringing his double-figure scoring streak to 26 consecutive games dating back to last season.

? He has fourteen 20-point games this season, bringing his career total to 17. Bogut has scored at least 20 points in 13 of the last 17 games.

? Bogut had a career-high 33 points and 16 rebounds to get his 16th double-double of the season against Colorado State on Saturday night. It was the first 30-point game of his career. Bogut also set personal-best marks for free throws made (17) and attempted (19), and tied his career high with five blocked shots. Bogut shot 8-for-14 from the floor, and also contributed three assists and two steals in 39 minutes.

? In shooting 17-for-19 (89.5 percent) from the free throw line against Colorado State, Bogut tied the thrid-best mark in school history for free throws made, set the second-best mark for free throws attempted, and set the third-best mark for free throw percentage.

? Bogut is moving up the single-season and career charts at Utah. His 46 blocked shots rank second to Mitch Smith's 55 in 1988-89). Bogut has already bettered his total of 44 blocked shots last season, which now rank third in a season at the U. With 90 career blocked shots, Bogut ranks sixth at Utah, closing in on Nate Althoff's mark of 92 set from 1997-2001. If Bogut can maintain his 64.5 field goal percentage this season, he would set the school single-season record by breaking the mark of 61.7 set by Antoine Davison in 1991-92. Bogut's career field goal percentage of 61.2 (359-for-587) would also set the caree mark at Utah, surpassing Althoff (60.8 percent).

? In nine Mountain West Conference games, Bogut has averaged 19.8 points (ranking 1st in the MWC) while shooting 66.7 percent from the field (1st) and 72.5 percent from the free throw line (13th). He has also averaged 12.4 rebounds (1st), 2.67 assists (10th) and 2.22 blocked shots (2nd). He is the only player in the league averaging a double-double.

Markson Making His Mark
Junior forward Bryant Markson (6-6, 190) is third on the team in scoring (10.6 ppg) and second in rebounding (3.9 rpg). He has started 13 games this season and played in all 24, averaging 26.4 minutes per game.

? Markson has scored in double figures 16 times this season, including 11 of the last 13 games.

? Against UNLV on Feb. 7, Markson missed his career high by one point, scoring 19 (8-11 FG, 1-3 3FG, 2-3 FT). He also had five rebounds in 35 minutes.

? The Monrovia, Calif., native has been playing a bigger role for the Utes the past 13 games, beginning when Richard Chaney was sidelined with a broken hand. He has started 11 of those games and averaged 31.5 minutes per contest. He has averaged 13.2 points and 4.4 rebounds per game, ranking second only to Andrew Bogut in those categories. He has also shot 59.2 percent from the field and 79.3 percent from the free throw line.

? In Mountain West Conference play, Markson ranks eighth in the league in scoring (13.6 ppg), fifth in field goal percentage (58.3) and tied for second in free throw percentage (83.3).

? Markson had a career-high 20 points in 30 minutes against Colorado State on Jan. 17. He made 5-of-7 shots from the field, 1-of-2 three-pointers and and 9-of-10 free throws. He also had three rebounds and two assists.

Notes On Utah's Undefeated Start To MWC Schedule
? Utah is the first team in the six-year history of the Mountain West Conference to go 7-0 through the first half of the league schedule. The previous best record at the half-way mark of MWC play was 6-1, archived seven times. The Utes did it three times (2000, 2002, 2003) and went on to win at least a share of the regular season championship all three years.

? Utah has outscored its eight MWC opponents by an average of 15.7 points per game and outrebounded the opponents by 12.2 boards per contest--which are on pace for league records (no MWC team has ever held a +10 advantage in either category at season's end).

? The Utes are allowing just 51.6 points per game in league games and are on pace to break the league scoring defense mark set last year by Air Force (54.4 ppg allowed).

? Utah's 16-game winning streak is the best in Mountain West Conference history. The previous best streak was 13 games, set by Utah (2001-02) and Air Force (2003-04).

? The Utes have won a league record 13 straight games against MWC opponents, including its win in the final regular-season game and three wins in the MWC Tournament in 2004.

? Utah is the first team in MWC history to win its first four conference road games.

Getting Defensive
One of the trademarks of Utah basketball in recent years has been a stifling half-court defense. Since the 1989-90 season, Utah has finished in the top 30 in the nation 12 times in scoring defense, 10 times in rebound margin, eight times in field goal percentage defense and eight times in scoring margin.

? In the NCAA statistical rankings released on Feb. 8, Utah ranked third in rebound margin (+10.7 rpg), sixth in scoring defense (56.6 ppg) and first in fewest personal fouls per game (13.9). Currently, Utah has a +10.8 rebound margin, is allowing 56.3 points per game and is committing 14.0 fouls per game.

? The U. has held each of its last 13 opponents to 60 points or less. During the last 13 games, teams have averaged 51.3 points per game against the Utes while shooting 39.3 percent from the field and 33.5 percent from three-point range. Utah has also held a 35.0 to 21.9 advantage on the boards.

? The Utes have outrebounded the opposition in 21 of the 24 games this season--including the last 15--and had a push in one other game (vs. Stony Brook in the season opener), going 21-1 in those contests.

? Utah has allowed just three opponents to shoot better than 50 percent from the field this season: Washington (53.4 in a loss), Utah State (65.0 in a loss) and Cal Poly (54.5 in a win).

? Utah has not allowed an opponent to score 80 points in 152 consecutive games that have ended in regulation. The last team to score 80 points on the Utes in a 40-minute game was Wyoming (88) on Feb. 28, 2000 in Laramie, Wyo.

Getting It Done At The Free Throw Line
The Utes have done an excellent job of getting to the free throw line and converting this season. Through 24 games, Utah is shooting 73.2 percent from the charity stripe, ranking first in the Mountain West Conference in that category.

? Utah ranked 53rd in the NCAA in free throw percentage (72.7) as of Feb. 8.

? The Utes have made 380 free throws (15.8 per game) while their opponents have attempted just 286 and made 194 (8.1 per game). Utah is 18-1 when it has more free throw attempts than its opponent this season, and is 1-0 when free throw attempts are equal.

? Six Utes are shooting over 70 percent from the line this season: Richard Chaney (86.3), Marc Jackson (83.7), Tim Drisdom (83.3), Andrew Bogut (72.2), Bryant Markson (72.0) and Chris Grant (71.4)

Utes Tough At Home In The Huntsman Center
Utah is 223-19 (.921) in the Huntsman Center over the last 16 seasons and has never lost back-to-back home games. The Utes are 13-0 at home this season

? The Runnin' Utes are riding a 14-game home winning streak that ranks tied for the 10th-longest in NCAA Division I.

? Utah has captured 45 of their last 47 games at home with their only two losses coming to Colorado State on March 6, 2003, ending a 16-game home winning streak, and a 59-57 loss to Air Force on Feb. 21, terminating a string of 15 consecutive home wins.

Utah is 18-1 when leading at halftime and 21-1 when leading with 5:00 remaining in the second half this season. The U.'s only loss in both of those categories was at Arizona on Dec. 11. ... The Utes have come back to win from a halftime deficit twice (at Colorado State on Jan. 17, trailing 34-30; and at BYU on Jan 31, trailing 29-28) and a tie once (Furman on Nov. 27, tied 24-24) ...
