COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Utah sophomore Andrew Bogut was named Mountain West Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the fifth time this season and the sixth time in his career.
A 7-0 center from Melbourne, Australia, Bogut led the first-place Utes to conference wins over Wyoming (71-62) and Air Force (65-56) last week. He scored 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds vs. the Cowboys, recording his 17th double-double of the season. He followed with a 23-point, nine rebound and two blocked shot performance at Air Force, helping Utah snap the Falcons' 24-game home win streak in the process (was the second longest active home win streak in the country).
For the week, Bogut averaged 27 points, 11 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 blocked shots per game, while shooting 71.4 percent (20-of-28) from the field and 73.7 percent (14-of-19) from the free-throw line. He leads the MWC in scoring (20.6), rebounding (11.8) and field goal percentage (.651). His rebounds per game ranks among the nation's leaders, while his 17 double-doubles currently ranks third in the nation.
