Salt Lake City - The University of Utah men's tennis team took down the Idaho State Bengals 7-0 at the Eccles Tennis Center. With the win, the Utes improve to 3-0 on the season.
Utah was the first to get on the scoreboard 1-0 by sweeping the doubles matches.
Then the Utes tallied six straight singles wins. Freshman Zach Ganger played at the No. 1 position and came back after losing in the first set. He defeated Ivan Moferdin (4-6, 6-0, 6-1).
At the No. 5 spot, sophomore Ryan Scott fought hard to pull out a (6-4, 6-7, (10-5)) victory over Jemre Okoh.
Head Coach F.D. Robbins comments on the match. "We kind of changed up the lineup a little bit today. Zach got his chance to play one and I thought he played really well. It's good to play at home and it's good to get a win. We fought hard. We play again Friday and we will see if we can get another win under our belts."
The Utes take the courts again, at home this Friday against Weber State at 5:00 p.m.
