SALT LAKE CITY - Utah center Andrew Bogut was named a first team All-American by both the United States Basketball Writers Association and National Association of Basketball Coaches on Thursday.
Joining Bogut on the USBWA first team were Dee Brown (Illinois), Chris Paul (Wake Forest), J.J. Redick (Duke) and Wayne Simien (Kansas). Selected to the second team were Ike Diogu (Arizona State), Luther Head (Illinois), Sean May (North Carolina), Salim Stoudamire (Arizona), Hakim Warrick (Syracuse).
Making the NABC All-America first team with Bogut were Chris Paul (Wake Forest), Wayne Simien (Kansas), J.J. Redick (Duke) and Hakim Warrick (Syracuse). The second team honorees were Deron Williams (Illinois), Dee Brown (Illinois), Ike Diogu (Arizona State), Francisco Garcia (Louisville) and Luther Head (Illinois). The third team included Joey Graham (Oklahoma State), Salim Stoudamire (Arizona), Rashad McCants (North Carolina), Nate Robinson (Washington) and Craig Smith (Boston College).
Bogut ranks third in the nation in rebounding (12.0 rpg), third in field goal percentage (63.7), 15th in scoring (20.6 ppg) and 50th in blocked shots (55). He also has 21 double-doubles this season.
